Just back from visiting Rose. Her sister Pat is with her now and I'll return for the evening shift later. She looked pretty good this morning, ready to get out of there as soon as possible. The transplant team had not been by when I left so we'll know more this afternoon. Rose's fever has moderated and she seems to have reasonably good energy.

Update:
The transplant team just finished a visit with Rose. Her blood cultures are showing a small amount of activity from a virus which is common to immuno-deficient folks. They have decided to treat the virus after initially choosing not to: Rose's continuing low grade fever is the reason. Her blood counts are good otherwise - in fact, after a neupogen shot yesterday, her white counts are essentially normal. This number is artificially inflated by the neupogen and will drop, but it was a pretty impressive leap. The other good move here is bringing in an ENT to check her ears and sinuses. Her hearing has noticeably degraded in the last week and she's been very stuffy. Hopefully her hearing - never great - will improve with some attention. It's all good. Hoping to get her out and back to the apartment before I head home this weekend.
It sounds like the standard of care at MD is high, conscientious, thorough. It's especially great if they are listening to Rose and to you.

The loud yea you hear from the North isn't necessarily me cheering for the Tigers. There is obviously a better team in you two to cheer for. Tom
