What is Happening, Explained

Just off the phone with our doctor, the marvelous Gabby Goldstein.  Here is her survey of what is happening.

Normally for a low grade fever, they do exactly what these guys did: prescribe a heavy duty antibiotic.  The problem is that Rose's GI tract has not recovered sufficiently from chemo to properly absorb some materials - like antibiotics.  The proof of the theory is that they are supplementing magnesium and potassium difficiencies big time, nutrients that the GI tract would normally absorb.

So: she's in for five days so that she can receive these meds IV until she has fought off the infection and can adequately absorb stuff in a renewed GI tract.  Capice?
